Ever heard of the Alien Squat? I'm pretty sure Neil Armstrong made it up while he was on the moon 😉.

It is a great exercise and since it is a calisthenics(bodyweight) training you do not need any equipment to do it. This gives you the ability to do it anywhere.

This exercise is very easy to learn and has a difficulty level of beginner. This makes it perfect for people of all different fitness levels.

Alein Squats are classified as a plyometric (jump training) exercise. The goal of plyometrics is for you to exert maximum muscle force in a short period.

Make sure you focus on explosively jumping up out of the half squat position to get the maximum benefit of this exercise.

Alien Squats are a compound(multi-joint) movement helping you to burn a high number of calories in a short time.

This exercise targets your lower body. You will mainly be using your Quadriceps and Glutes when performing this action.

Written Description

  • Move your legs into a wide stance with your toes pointing slightly out. Put a slight bend in your knees.
  • Place your hands on your hips. Your neck is to stay in a neutral position. Keep your back straight.
  • You are now in the starting position for this exercise.
  • Lower your body by moving the hips and butt back into a half squat.
  • Drive through the heels jumping straight up. As you are jumping kick each of your legs out at a 45-degree angle.
  • Before landing return your legs to the wide stance position.
  • You have now completed one repetition. Repeat for the desired number repetitions or time span.

Performing the jumping pattern for short durations with short rest periods allows you to use this exercise for H.I.I.T (High-Intensity Interval Training).
